Acacia trees grow in such abundance in many regions of the world, that they are considered an invasive species. Acacia is a sustainable, dense, durable hardwood that can withstand the elements. It is often used in boat building and durable floors.

Acacia is 55% harder than Oak, and 90% harder than carbonised bamboo flooring. It is harder than Maple and has less porosity (void spaces between) than a lot of other hardwoods. Our blocks are made 200mm thick, thicker than most other blocks on the market adding extra weight to the block makes it a truly solid base when being struck with a clever.

The 90 x 60 cm butcher block is made from extremely hard wearing wood. The butchers block is made from acacia wood and is interlocked together to prevent expansion and cracking. The butcher block is painted using 'paint water' which is authorized for food use. Vaseline oil is used to treat the wood of the butcher block which is also authorized for food use and the wood is glued together using a long lasting Vinilic glue, also authorized for food use on the butcher block.

The butchers block is dried in a traditional oven to prevent warping and the rods are made with threaded steel complete with washers and bolts holding the butcher block together tightly and efficiently.

The working height of the butchers block is 84 cm or 33" which is the standard recognized height for all butchers blocks. This can be raised or lowered for an extra cost to make the butcher block customer fit to you. (please call our sales department for further information).

Proper cleaning methods should be used on the butcher block, the butcher block should be re-oiled regularly, the butcher block should be sanitised after cleaning. If the butcher block develops cracks, then the correct butcher block filler should be used, the butcher block sanded down and then the butcher block should be re-oiled.

Various other sizes are available, 2ft x 2ft, 4ft x 2ft, 5ft x 2ft, 6ft x 2ft, 6ft x 2.5ft.
